Melvin Charles Kiesler, 91, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021. Melvin was a 1947 NAHS graduate and a member of the school track team who competed in the 1947 State Finals. Along with his late wife, he was the former owner and operator of both the House of Rosemary in New Albany and The Master's Frame Shop in Clarksville.
He was born on December 22, 1929, in Greenville, Indiana, to the late Joseph and Edna (Beach) Kiesler. Along with his parents, Melvin is preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary (Barr) Kiesler; brothers, Carl, Vernon, and Henry Kiesler; and sisters, Berniece Paul, Mildred Bierman, and Evelyn Kiesler.
Melvin is survived by his sons, Michael (Irene), Greg (Darlene), and Terry (Janet) Kiesler; sister, Phyllis Huber; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 11, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). His Funeral Service will be at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with cremation to follow according to Melvin's wishes. His final resting place will be St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Bradford, Indiana.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Vineyard Church of Southern Indiana (727 Rolling Creek Drive, New Albany, IN 47150).
The family requests that contributions in Melvin's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
