Remembering McKinley (Daddyman) Lambert, Jr.
January 1, 1947, McKinley (Sonny) Lambert, Sr. and Sadie M. Lambert were blessed with the birth of a baby boy, McKinley, Jr., one of sixteen children born to this union in Sikeston, Missouri. McKinley departed this life December 30, 2020, at 11:52 p.m., at University of Louisville Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers Charles D, Joe Louis, Nathan and H.C., and sisters, Marie and Alberta. McKinley, as a young child, confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at Westend Misisonary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend James M. Blow, in Sikeston, Missouri. Mac served as a junior usher, and sang in the junior choir. His mother, realizing the importance of God's word, and a personal relationship with the Savior, encouraged McKinley, as well as his brothers and sisters to attend Sunday School. There they were taught about God's word, preparing them to understand the importance of salvation, and providing the opportunity to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. McKinley attended elementary school, Lincoln Junior High and Senior High Schools in Sikeston. In senior high, he excelled as a super star basketball player and was also a strong middle weight boxer. McKinley enlisted in the United States Army in 1968. After many years of military service to his country, he received an honorable discharge. MeKinley was well-versed with wisdom and knowledge. Because of his knowledge and experiences he was often charged with the task of being a counselor for his family and friends. McKinley would articulate the situations, seek the truth, and provide insight and common sense to anyone faced with a troubling life issue. Everyone knew they could "just ask McKinley", he could give you the solution. McKinley worked in many capacities, his last being, security for Jefferson County Public Schools. He had a soft spot in his heart for children. McKinley moved to Louisville in the early 80's. He later retired here, in the bluegrass state. Here, he met and married Irmagene Johnson in October 7, 1989. They were blessed to enjoy thirty-one years of happiness. McKinley joined the First Virginia Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Reverend Charles H. Duncan, Sr.McKinley will be sadly missed by his children: Rhonda (Calumet Park, Illinois), Regina and McKinley, III (Chicago, Illinois), Cynthia Potts (Milwaukee, Wisconsin), John Warren (Minneapolis, Minnesota), and Rickey Lee Lambert (Benton Harbor, Michigan); brothers, Walter (Verna), Eddie Franklin (Sikeston, Missouri), and Linzie (Gloria)(Columbia, Missouri); sisters, Juanita Collins (St. Louis, Missouri), Mae Stevenson and Marilyn K. Lambert (Cordova, Tennessee); other children he cherished are, Pastor Eric, Sr., Cheletta, and Reverend Anthony Sawyers, all of Louisville, Kentucky; fourteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,and many, many friends.
