Maybell Cherry

Maybell L. (Woodward) Cherry, 87, of Sellersburg passed away on Friday, March 18, 2011. Maybell was a charter member of Graceland Baptist Church where she remained an active member. A devout Christian, she started a prayer journal years ago which she diligently kept and turned into a fascinating and historical daily journal of her life and activities.

Maybell was born on August 5, 1923 in Hopkins County, Kentucky to the late Robert E. and Lena Frances (Whitfield) Woodward.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jesse V. "Pete" Cherry; sister, Sarah E. Bowley of Greenville, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Eloise Tucker of Georgetown, Indiana and Jane Richardson and her husband John, of Shelbyville, Indiana; many nieces and nephews; special friends; church family; and caregiver, Rita Osborne and her husband, Al of Frankfort, Kentucky.

Her visitation will be 12 to 6 PM Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) and from 10 to 11 AM at the church. Her Funeral Service will be 11 AM Monday, March 21, 2011 at Graceland Baptist Church (3600 Kamer Miller Road, New Albany, IN 47150) with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
