Mary Sue Wilson, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 72 in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on July 2, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of John B. Whited and Rose Mary Cassady. Mary was a graduate of Thomas Carl High School in Indianapolis and experienced a life enriched by her career and countless passions.
Mary retired from her position at the General Electric Manufacturing Plant in Louisville, a significant chapter in her professional journey. Along with her late husband, Billy G. Wilson, whom she cherished for 34 years, she dedicated time to volunteer as CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for the courts in Texarkana, Texas, reflecting her commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
In her personal life, Mary was known for her lively spirit and dedication to family and friends. She shared a deep love for sports, having been an active member of the company softball team at GE for many years. Additionally, she enjoyed gathering with her friends to play Bunko on the last Wednesday of each month, a tradition that brought joy and connection to her life. Mary's faith was also an integral part of her identity, and she found strength and community within her church family at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Louisville.
Mary had a diverse range of hobbies, including quilting, tennis, and golf. Her adventurous spirit led her to embrace activities such as biking, jogging, and running, often incorporating travel into her pursuits. Her zest for life was evident, and she found happiness in both the simple pleasures and the grand adventures that life offered.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Tera Pruitt (Chris Rose); son, Roger Wilson (Margie); step-daughter, Liz Hardenbrook (Thomas); grandchildren, Spencer G. Pruitt (Isaac), Gracie Lynn Rosemary Pruitt, Mary Kubajak, Tim Kubajak, Jr., Lindsey Wilson, Lauren Bridges (Grant), Teddy Hardenbrook, Lincoln Hardenbrook; great-grandson, Liam Bridges; brother, Jim Whited (Juanette); sisters-in-law, Fran Whited and Betsy Stivers (Billy Joe); nephews, Marcus Whited (Kim), Thomas Whited, and Stacey Stivers (Kelly); Nieces Laura Whited Feltd (Brandon), Lisa Whited Feichtner (Dan); her best friend, Connie Guild (Dave); and her fur baby, Lucy.
Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy; her father, John B. Whited; her mother, Rose Mary Cassady; her brother, John Whited; step-daughters, Courtney Wilson and Nicole Wilson; and her fur baby, Paula Gene.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr., Louisville, KY 40243. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM with a graveside service to follow at Franklinton Cemetery in Franklinton, Kentucky.
