Mary Sue Smith
August 19, 1932 — October 18, 2018
Mary Sue Smith rose to heaven into the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at age 86. She was the beloved wife of Victor L. Smith.
She is preceded in death by her parents Kelro and Lowell Whiteman of Ft. Wayne and Portland, IN and her brother, Robert "Bob" Whiteman.
She was a loving mother to Barrie Smith (Kathy), Daniel Smith (Betty), Rebecca Schwartz (Fil), Victoria Samples (Robert), and Jennifer Rakestraw (William). She was filled with joy over her 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A graduate of South Side High School in Ft. Wayne, Sue later earned her Registered Nurse degree. Throughout their long and happy marriage of 66 years, Sue and Victor lived in VA, IL, IN, TN and KY. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church throughout her life.
A celebration of her life will be held at Christ Church UMC, 4614 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, KY 40207, on Thursday October 25, 2018, with visitation at 10 AM and service at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may go to the Christ Church UMC.
