Mary Lou Williams, 86, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 8, 2016. She was born in St. Charles, Kentucky on June 28, 1929 to the late Albert Lucas "Luke" and Ermin Ethel Chaney. Mary married the late Reverend William Leander "Bill" Thomas in 1946 and had three children. Mary married a second time to the late J.D. "Jimmy" Williams in 1995 where they resided in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mary worked mostly in the home and church and was a charter member of the Hillsdale Baptist Church. She enjoyed supporting her first husband in the ministry and her second husband in the role of deacon. She often directed music, taught Sunday School, prepared church bulletins, led vacation bible school, worked in the church office and helped her husband with sermon outlines. She remained active in the church until her health no longer allowed. Mary truly loved God and was always eager to share her joy in Jesus Christ with others.
Mary was also advanced in the art of crochet. She made afghans for everyone in the family as well as elaborate formal attire for Barbie dolls, baby clothes and about anything else you can crochet.
Mary loved to travel, especially with her late husband, J.D. "Jimmy". They traveled across the country and enjoyed seeing God's beautiful creation.
Mary is survived by her children,Tommy Lee Thomas (Judy), Wesley Leon Thomas and Karen Thomas Blackford (Toby); a step-daughter, Brenda Sivado (Mark); eight grandchildren, Tara McCawley (Brian), Josh Thomas (Tara Jo), Nicole McCoy (Mike), Jacob Parker, Jake Sivado (Jennifer), Laura Sivado (Pete), David Sivado, Jonathan Sivado; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Arnie Woodruff (Harriet); and a host of other family members and friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky with burial to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
