Mary Leona "Peaches" Nelson, 77, went to be with the Lord on May 27, 2015. She was family oriented and enjoyed life to the fullest. She retired as a dietitian at the VA Hospital with her cousin Barbara Harris. She loved to play cards with her friends and family, walking and enjoyed dancing. Leona was a very comical person and could always put a smile on your face. She will be sadly missed by all of those that loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents. George Washington and Leitha Bell.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Priscilla Washington; grandchildren, Quinn Chandler and Conte Washington; 5 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Friday, June 5, 2015, from 6pm-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). A celebration of Mary's life will be Saturday, June 6, 2015, beginning at 10am at the chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home.
