Mary Jean Hagy, a cherished matriarch, took her final breath on December 17, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on October 20, 1933, she epitomized the term "homemaker," dedicating her life to nurturing her family with extraordinary love and care.
Mary Jean was not just a homemaker; she was the heart of her family, known for her strong will, big personality, and a sense of humor that could brighten the darkest of days. She delighted in cooking, with her famous fried chicken and banana pudding being the stars of countless family gatherings. Her culinary talents extended beyond the kitchen walls; she was an avid gardener who took great pride in her homegrown produce. Canning was more than a hobby; it was a way for her to preserve the fruits of her labor and share them with those she loved.
During her years, she enjoyed moments of tranquility on her front porch, with her faithful dog Matty by her side. Whether she was sewing or engaging in the simple pleasure of gardening, Mary Jean found happiness in the little things, always surrounded by love and laughter. Her faith played a pivotal role in her life, as she currently attended Grace Pointe Baptist Church and formerly Parkwood Baptist Church, cherishing her relationship with Jesus with a heart full of devotion.
She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire her family. Mary Jean is survived by her beloved daughter, Charlotte Kostolnik, and her son, Billy Joe (Diane) Hagy. Her warmth also lives on in her grandchildren: Aaron (Sherry) Robinson, Julie (Michael) Duffy, Ashley (Chris) Grimm, and Dawn Marie (Matt) Hartwell, along with Robert (Jennifer) Mitsubishi. The joy she brought to her life is reflected in her great-grandchildren, Olivia, Marisa, Easton Rome, Aubree, Easton, Riley, and Oliver. She will be missed deeply by many cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as her special friends Sherry and Keith Fields, Charlotte Butler, and Jeannie Keith.
Mary Jean was preceded in death by her adoring husband, George Frank Hagy, her parents Bailey and Della Mae Polston, and several brothers and sisters. Each moment spent with her will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew her.
