Mary Josie Goode(Morton) was born on March 15, 1932, in Louisville, KY, to Anna Louise Morton and William Jackson Sr. She gave her life to Christ at a young age, a faith that guided her throughout her life.
Mary dedicated her career to caring for others as a practical nurse, providing private-duty care for prominent families in Louisville. She never met a stranger and had a warm, welcoming spirit that made everyone feel like family.
She had a deep love her family and all animals, especially birds, and took great pride in her room filled with houseplants. She found joy in the simple things, including her favorite foods—greens, hot water cornbread, and fried green tomatoes.
Family was at the center of Mary’s life. She kept up with everyone on social media, always staying connected through her iPad and iPhone. She was incredibly smart and remained engaged with the world around her. More than anything, she was a loving and supportive presence to those who knew her, always cheering on her loved ones as their biggest fan.
Mary Josie Goode is survived by daughter Chiquita and Garland Lindsay Sr. son in law . Grand children Erick, Nikisha and Garland Jr. Great grand children Erick Lindsay Jr. ,Andre Bush Jr. ,Charlie Neil Gavin Lindsay Garland Lindsay II and Great-grand Ivory Lindsay, Nephews and nieces Muriel and Wanda Wilkerson and Rozella Monroe and a host of other family members that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Goode, Mother Anna Louise Morton ,sisters Christine Green, Donna Johnson and Gonzella Monroe also a brother William (Carl) Jackson Jr. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished. She was cremated at Newcomer funeral home Dixie highway Louisville, Ky 40258
