Mary Frances Poynter (Bailey) died on August 22, 2015, in her sleep after suffering serious health problems for a number of years. She was born in Louisville in 1922, and was raised in Pennsylvania. On her return, she met a handsome WWII vet, Clyde Nelson Poynter. They married soon after, build a successful business, Poynter Co. Inc. and raised a family. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on August 7th. Above all else, she was a devoted wife and mother.
Mary is survived by her husband; her daughter, Marty Lyn Hedgepeth; son-in-law, Stephen; and her beloved granddaughter, Heather Mara Hedgepeth, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Frances (Nall) Bailey, sister, Thelma Kinnarney and brothers, William Bailey and Marvin James.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Atria St. Matthews, Hosparus and most especially Laura Salloum of Senior Helpers for their care and kindness.
Cremation was chosen. Visitation with the family will be at the Hedgepeth home, 6000 Timber Ridge Place, Prospect, KY 40059, on Saturday, August 29th from 3-6 with a brief remembrance of her life at 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Crusade for Children, the Animal Care Society or the KY Arthritis Foundation.
