Mary Jean "Granny" (Talbott) Cochran, 82, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on September 25, 2018. She worked for several years at Scribner Middle School and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3281 Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed playing both poker and bingo. She was a mother figure and caretaker to many; she will be deeply missed.
She was born on August 17, 1936, in New Albany to the late Raymond and A. Lucille (Black) Talbott. Mary was also preceded in death by her son, Raymond Cochran; and siblings, Frances Rickman and Roscoe L. Brown.
Mary is survived by her companion, Robert "Pappy" Allen; children, Ronald W. Cochran (Darlene), Gloria Cochran-Friedman, Maria Cochran, Theresa Fuller, and Clarence "Eddie" Fuller, Jr. (Kelli); siblings, William R. Black, Brenda Mudd, and Thomas Talbott; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation was chosen and a reception of family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with her memorial service taking place at 3:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank George "Puddy" Winburn, Jarman Cousin, and the staff at Lincoln Hills for the love and care they showed to Mary.
