Mary Virginia "Ginger" Blakeney

Mary Virginia Blakeney, a vibrant spirit known to many as Ginger, passed away on April 21, 2026. Born on July 17, 1961, Ginger was a remarkable woman whose fiery personality and steadfast love touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Ginger was truly a firecracker—outspoken and unapologetically herself. She stood as a strong provider for her family, balancing a loving heart with a stern resolve that guided her children and grandchildren with unwavering strength and care. To those fortunate enough to be in her presence, she was more than just a family member; she was a mother to all.

Those who remember Ginger recall her delight in the simple joys of life. She had a penchant for dressing up, always taking pride in her appearance, never missing the chance to have her nails done. Shopping was a cherished pastime, yet it was cooking and the treasured moments spent with her grandchildren that truly warmed her heart. There was a special comfort she found in sitting on her porch, a place where many fond memories were made and shared.

Her proudest accomplishments were, without a doubt, her fur baby, Chip, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the center of her universe, the living legacy of her love, guidance, and unwavering devotion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Carol Robey.

Ginger leaves behind to cherish her memories, her fur baby, Chip; fiancé, Mike; children, Ronnie (Amy), Crystal (James), Star (TBD) and Dailya (Brandon); grandchildren, Meisha (Meechie), Brandon (Lian), Dontynel, Alexia, Hannah (Chris), Trinity (Chris), Aeiou'Na and a new addition on the way; great-grandchildren, A'Zhon, Emmalin and Whitley; a host of bonus grandchildren and bonus great-grandchildren and brothers, Steve, Joe (Dana), Scott (Kecia) and Leon.

Services to honor and celebrate Ginger's life will begin with a visitation on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. The funeral service will be held the following day, Wednesday, April 29, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.

As we gather to remember Ginger, we hold close the enduring warmth of her love, her unyielding strength, and the spark of joy she brought into every life she touched. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
