Mary Neil Blakeman

Mary Neil Blakeman, 75, passed away on October 8, 2021. Her family meant the world to her and keeping her family close was an important part of her life. Mary enjoyed trips with her family and friends, reading, sewing and going to the beach. After raising her own children, Mary led a career as a preschool paraeducator for 24 years for Jefferson County Public Schools and Valley View Christian Church. She was a thoughtful, kind and generous soul, who always remembered birthdays and anniversaries. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends and never forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Pauline Sherrard and a sister, Rita Nash.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 57 years, Danny Blakeman; daughters, Melissa (Jimmy) McGrath, Tammy (Darren) Goodlett and Stacey (Joe Werth) Blakeman; grandchildren, Timberly (Josh) Kerby, Kaitlyn (Adam) Weir, Kyle (Jessie) McGrath, Corey (Peyton) Goodlett, Cole (Katie) Goodlett, Kolin McGrath, Leroy and Otis Werth; great-grandchildren, Torren, Lillie, Charlie, Daisy, Cooper, Stevie; siblings, Sue Smith, Alice Yeager and Paul Thomas (Donna) Sherrard, brother-in-law, Gary Nash; sisterly cousins, Jane (Chuck) Betz and Judith (Barry) Cooke; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A celebration of Mary's life will be at Riverside Farnsley Moremen Landing, 7410 Moorman Road, Louisville, KY 40272, on Friday, October 22, from 2pm-6pm with a memorial service from 3:00pm - 3:30pm.

In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations to be made to Shirley's Way, 10966 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40272.
