Marty Powell

John Ray "Marty" Powell, 63, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Marty was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Papa to his grandchildren. He loved horse racing and spending the weekends on his pontoon. Marty's pride and joy was his asphalt company, Powell's Paving, and his work ethic was incomparable. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family and his will to take care of everyone. Marty will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. 

He was born on October 11, 1960, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Lloyd and June Powell. He is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Powell; and his brothers, Randy Powell and Darryl Powell.

Marty is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Roxane Powell; children, Tommy (Pepper Turner) Powell, Toni (Tim Besselman) Powell, Tina Powell, and Tana (James Wharton) Powell; grandchildren, Dallas Powell, Brooklyn Hall, Ava Powell; mother, June Powell; mother-in-law, Ruth McCoy; siblings, Lloyd "Bubby" Powell, Jr., Debbie Cain, Peggy Dykes, Lisa Embry, Johnny Powell, Lois Powell, Sheila Mattingly; as well as a host of extended family friends and work crew to cherish his loving memory forever. 

Visitation will be Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway.
