Listen to Obituary

Martha Lou Wagner, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, in Louisville, KY, at the age of 88, surrounded by the warmth and love of her devoted family. Born on August 31, 1937, in Hiseville, KY, Martha’s journey was one marked by deep loyalty, unwavering devotion, and a heartfelt love for family that shaped generations.

A proud graduate of New Albany High School, Martha carried both the lessons and friendships of her youth with grace and humility. Her life’s vocation was that of a dedicated homemaker—Martha was truly the matriarch of her family. Her gentle hands and generous heart created a haven where everyone felt nurtured and cherished. With a steadfast commitment, she ensured her loved ones always had what they needed, her home ringing with laughter, comfort, and the unmistakable feeling of being beloved.

Martha’s legacy is one of laughter, warmth, and spirited gatherings. Holidays came alive under her careful touch—her decorations made every season magical, and her home would fill with the delicious aromas of her cooking. Family vacations, shopping excursions (especially treasured trips to Value City and other local shops), cookouts, and nights out for dinner—especially at Tommy Lancaster's—were among the many joys she orchestrated with care and exuberance. Her knack for finding the perfect gift, her delight in traveling with those she loved, and her passion for making everyday moments special will live on in the memories she created with each person she touched.

She was a devoted and loving wife, and the loss of her dearly missed husbands, Earl Lopp and Arthur Donald Wagner, was met with the same quiet resilience and grace that defined her. Martha found joy in watching her family grow and succeed; for her, nothing brought greater pride than seeing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren thrive.

To her family, Martha was the cornerstone: honest, hardworking, compassionate, and always ready with a quick-witted sense of humor. She was a gentle confidante to her children; Mark Wagner (Patrick McLindon), Gina Lotich ( Shawn Parker), and Amberly Wagner (Jay Vega). As a grandmother, her unwavering love enriched the lives of Conner Lotich, Abigail Lotich (Zidon Coats), Kennedy Wagner (Austin Colgate), Cody Vega, Karos Vega (Abby McClanahan), Jordi Vega, and Lennox Vega. She also welcomed with joy a great-grandson, Caimen Armour-Lotich. Her sister, Pamela Ballew, extended family, Troy Davidson, and many loving nieces, nephews' friends and family remain to reflect upon Martha’s generous spirit and legacy.

In remembering Martha, we also honor her family members who have gone before her: her husbands, her mother Elizabeth Measles, her father Clyde Byrd, her brothers Roger, Rondall, and Wayne Byrd, and her sisters Barbara Lindsey, Sue Rhea, and Carol Harvey. Their memories live vividly in the stories Martha shared and, in the lessons, she passed down.

Her family will forever treasure the memory of her countless shopping adventures and the welcoming, festive atmosphere she effortlessly created for every celebration. Above all, Martha will be remembered for her steadfast love, her courage, and the sense of belonging she gave to all around her.
