Martha Lee Missi Stumler

Martha Lee Missi Stumler, 94, of Starlight, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Martha was a hard-worker from a very early age who held many jobs during her life. Starting at Seinsheimer where she would sew suit coats, then going to Schmidt Catering Service, Joe Huber Farm, ICI and finally as a housekeeper. She had a gift of caring for others, loved sewing and had a knack for puzzles, word searches, Bingo and playing cards. Martha was a life-time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight and a member of VFW Post 3281 Women's Auxiliary. She made sure to be there for her family and never missed a family gathering or sending cards with money on all holidays and birthdays.

She was born on February 27, 1930 in Starlight, Indiana to the late Peter F. Schmidt and Anna M. (Glotzbach) Schmidt. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Wilfred Missi; her 2nd husband, Vincent Stumler; and brother, William "Butch" Schmidt.

Martha is survived by her loving children, Michael (Becky) Missi, Vickie (Frank) Armes, and Myra (Joey) Batliner; siblings, Alfred (Hilda) Schmidt, Jim (Janet) Schmidt; Rosella Bickel, Robert "Pete" (Linda) Schmidt, and Marvin (Lisa) Schmidt; sister-in-law, Darlene Steward, grandchildren, Eric (Amber) Missi, Allison (Andrew) Milliner, Bryan (Laura) Batliner, and Amy (Tim) Burdette; and great-grandchildren, Judd, Lydia, Nash, Asa, Abram, Abel, Miles, AJ, and Ben.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church - Starlight (8310 St. Johns Rd, Floyds Knobs). Her Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, at the church with burial to follow at the church cemetery.

The family would like to extend their most heartfelt gratitude to all the staff and nurses at Traditions of Hunter Station for their amazing care. Martha's daughter, Vickie, also provided unwavering support to her mother throughout the years.
