Martha Jean (Bailey) Saettel

Martha Jean (Bailey) Saettel, 83, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Martha was a Christian by faith and loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching game shows, playing games, and cooking for her family.

Martha was born on September 20, 1938, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late John and Ollie (Vaughn) Bailey. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Saettel; son, Jimmy Saettel; and siblings, Nolan Bailey, Juanita Groves, James Bailey, Kotha Sharp, and John Bailey.

Martha is survived by her loving daughters, Melissa Saettel, Melody Rufing, and Marlene (Billy) Funkhouser; grandchildren, Amanda Saettel, Tiffany Rufing, Haley Funkhouser, and Reese Funkhouser; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Collene (Bob) Cress, Ronnie Bailey, Jack (Pam) Bailey, Sharon Clubb, Linda (Tim) Miller, and Darlene Williams; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane) and will continue from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021. Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
