Martha Ann Johnson was the oldest child of Mary Magdalene Gardner and Luther Leonard Brown. Her story begins August 12, 1945 in the community of Aspen Hill in Giles County Tennessee. She resided there in a very small structure until the death of her mother Mary. Martha was approximately age five at the time. Luther later remarried and moved to Louisville Kentucky in 1954 next sending for Martha and her siblings to join him. Martha attended Virginia Avenue Elementary, DuValle Junior High School, and Louisville’s Central High School. She went on to attend Spencerian College where she achieved her LPN. Martha worked diligently in her profession as nurse until her retirement. Martha gave her life to Christ early and all of her children where raised within the arms of the church. Martha was an inspiration, and a motivator. Her strong will and determination will carry on. Martha had a passion for gardening, and loved the thrill of a good thrift shop find. Martha later resided in Dayton, Ohio were she spent many of her later years. She had a strong church presence there. She developed friendships that brightened a light in her life. Many of her fellow members came to bear witness with their combined love for Jehovah.
Martha’s sister Patsy L. Brown preceded her in death.
She leaves to survive her a brother William Brown (Janet ) three children Theressa Stone (Marion) James Westmoreland (Sarah) Veronica Wright (Michael) twelve grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Martha also left a host of nieces, nephews, step siblings, and other family members.
Visitation will be Friday, April 17, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 12pm-2pm with a celebration of Martha's life beginning at 2pm.
Martha’s home was filled with warmth and kindness and she will be deeply missed by friends, family and all who knew her.
