Martha Ann "Marty" (Pat) Hingson Nelson, a beacon of love and dedication, passed away on December 3, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 19, 1933, in Dayton, Ohio, Marty was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, caring grandmother, and a treasured friend to many.
For years, Marty proudly served as a secretary for the Franklin County Ohio Sheriff's Office, from where she retired. Marty was an avid reader who loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, doing jigsaw puzzles, birdwatching and loving her granddogs. She was a peace maker and had the kindest of souls. Her proudest accomplishment lay within the walls of her home, where she raised her beautiful family. A loving bond united her with her children, son Rick Hingson (Lori) and daughter Jayne Olshansky (Marc), alongside her stepson Jeff Nelson.
Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life. They include Cindy Germain (Bart), Steve Hingson, Jenny Travis (Marvin), Christy Knoth (James), William Haney, Walter Haney (Pompea), Megan Hingson, Nicole Nelson (C.J.), Josh Nelson, Anna Schweitzer (Dylan), Sam Olshansky (Bre), Sara Olshansky (Jared), and Amy Olshansky (JimBob). The sparkle in her eyes was often ignited by her great-grandchildren, Bradley, Kaitlynn, Jessica, Preston, Bailey, Hannah, Ellie, Kayla, Kelsey, Abby, Emma, Lila, Max, Charlotte, and Damien, shining brightly alongside one great-great-grandchild, Alita.
Marty was not just a devoted family member but also a loyal sister and compassionate friend. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Janice Shaw Donaldson, and countless nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory dear.
Though her heart was filled with so much love, Marty faced the loss of several dear family members throughout her life. She was predeceased by her father Paul Yoder, mother Martha Yoder, first husband Bill Hingson of Live Oak, FL, second husband Roger Nelson, sister Peggy Foley, sons Steven Paul Hingson and Steve Nelson, and her beloved dog, Koda. Each of these losses shaped the strong, resilient woman she became, guiding her through life’s challenges with grace.
In her final moments, Marty was enveloped in the warmth of her family's presence, a testament to the love and bonds she cultivated throughout her life. She will be publicly honored during a memorial gathering on December 15, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville KY, 40243, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location. Graveside service and burial will be at Clayland Baptist Church in Live Oak, Fl on March 22, 2025.
The impact of Marty's life resonates in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her loving spirit and unwavering dedication to her family will forever be remembered and cherished. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave.
