Martha Calvin, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 14, 1940, in Summitt, New Jersey, Martha was a beloved figure who touched the lives of many through her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
Martha's life was filled with rich experiences, and she found joy in a variety of hobbies. She had a particular fondness for taking trips to visit casinos, where she enjoyed the thrill of the games and the excitement of the atmosphere. Her creative side flourished through quilting, a craft she embraced with passion and skill. She was also a dedicated member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where her commitment to history and heritage shone brightly. In her later years, Martha relished the moments shared with her neighbors at the Derby Dinner Playhouse, finding joy in the laughter and stories exchanged in those settings.
Martha is survived by her two sons, Kevin (Debra) Calvin and Jonathan (Denise) Calvin. Her legacy continues through her grandsons, Sam and Jacob Calvin, whose lives she enriched with her love and guidance. She is also survived by her brother, James Haggett.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edwin Gene Calvin, whose presence she missed dearly. Martha was also predeceased by her parents, James Haggett and Mary Meeker Haggett, and her sister-in-law, Tina Haggett.
Martha's spirit will continue to live on in the stories shared, the quilts made, and the cherished moments spent with family and friends. Her contributions to those around her and the joyful experiences she created will never be forgotten. Cremation was chosen following Martha's wishes and she will be laid to rest privately with her husband at New Albany National Cemetery.
