Martha Jeanne Barrett

Martha Jeanne Barrett, 82, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026. Martha attended Bob Jones University in Greensville, South Carolina where she earned her Masters Degree in Education. Martha was a dedicated teacher and taught at Walnut Creek Christian Academy. She furthered her career at Pensacola College in Pensacola, Florida, where she resided with other educators. Martha then began missionary work teaching English as a second language in Togo and Ivory Coast as well as Zambia with Baptist Mid-Missions out of Cleveland, Ohio. She had a strong faith in the Lord that was the cornerstone of her life and was a dedicated member of Shawnee Baptist Church. Martha was a very kind and nurturing person and will be remembered for her kindness, especially towards the native people of Zambia. She cherished her family and the everlasting memories made with them. Martha will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was born on February 9, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles and Elizabeth (Szasz) Barrett. She is preceded in death by her father, Charles C. Barrett; mother, Elizabeth Barrett; and brother, Charles W. Barrett.

Martha is survived by her loving sister, Carolyn E. Barrett; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 30, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, East Louisville Chapel.
