Marlyn Alvey

Marlyn Alvey, age 89 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away peacefully in her sleep January 5th, 2022. Marlyn was born in Kansas City, Kansas, graduated from Wyandotte High School and Kansas City Business College. She raised a family in Kansas City, Missouri before starting a second family and moving to Louisville, Kentucky in 1973. Over her life, Marlyn called three towns home - Kansas City, Louisville and Hudson, Ohio.

Marlyn served many official positions including PTA president, and Cub Scout Den mother. But what stands tall above all else was her love of baseball, a major part of her life with all three sons and four grandsons. Her devotion to her boys' involvement in youth and school baseball spanned 60 years. Perhaps then appropriately, her favorite food was a hot dog, preferably eaten in the stands.

Marlyn enjoyed working in sales and management for retail women's clothing and cosmetics businesses into her early eighties. She had a good business mind. She enjoyed working with people, and people of all ages enjoyed working with Marlyn and just being around her. Marlyn was truly a people person.

Marlyn is survived by her three sons John Alvey, Jr., Michael and Stephen Imgarten, John's wife Amy and their three sons Jacob, Grayson and Owen, Stephen's wife Jan Williams, Michael's children Shealyn and Gunnar, and her brother Robert Craig, his wife Verna and their three children, Heather, Holly and Rodney. Preceding her in death were her two husbands, John Alvey, Sr. and Kenneth Imgarten.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 15th, 2022 at Ascension Lutheran Church (13725 Shelbyville Rd, Louisville, KY). A memorial service will be at 12:00 pm at the church followed by a luncheon.
