Mark D. Morris

Mark Morris, born on February 19, 1953, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on April 9, 2025. He was a man of profound compassion and love, whose heart was deeply woven into the lives of his family.

Mark shared nearly 22 beautiful years with his beloved wife, Romy Morris. He took immense pride in his daughters-Star Sohi (married to Sammy), Maria Stewart, April Stewart, Missy Smith (married to Randy), and Michelle Gaither. His love extended to his grandchildren: Zephyr, Ashwin, Mathieu (with Desiree), Ryleigh, Addison, Aiden, Noah, Trapper, Courtney, Emily, Matthew, and Nicholas. Mark was also a doting great-grandfather to Thaddeus "Theo", Enzo, Maddox, and Nolan. Mark is also survived by his siblings, Jimmy Morris, Barbie Morris, Janet Riddle (married to Randy), and Pam Nolan (married to Kenny).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leman Morris and Dorothy Mofield Morris, his sister, Lisa Morris, and his great-grandson, Kawyer Stucky.

An individual of many passions, Mark found solace in music and a deep connection with the outdoors. He delighted in fishing, archery, and gardening, often spending time indulging in these joys or taking cherished trips to the beach. The peacefulness of nature was a refuge for him, where he could reflect on life and create lasting memories.

In his quiet moments, Mark could be found delighting in the company of his faithful canine companions, Marley and Zoey. They, too, brought him joy and comfort, embodying the companionship he treasured.

Mark’s legacy is etched in the hearts of all who knew him. His compassionate spirit and unwavering love for his family will continue to illuminate the pathways of their lives. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Cremation was chosen following Mark's wishes.
