Mark "Beaver" Wayne Evans, 67, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026. Born on August 30, 1958, in New Albany, Beaver was the son of Elmer and Betty (Borden) Evans.
He contributed many years of service at Rasmussens, Colgate-Palmolive, New Albany-Floyd County School Corporation, retiring in 2022 from Fairmont Elementary. Known fondly by his nickname "Beaver," he had a natural warmth and friendliness that truly set him apart—he never met a stranger. Those who knew him remember his genuine friendliness, his humorous spirit and lighthearted goofiness that brought laughter to family and friends alike.
Beaver enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and tending to his yard, where he took pride in his efforts. His love for sports was evident and music was also a significant part of his life, with AC/DC being his favorite band and he liked trying to play his electric guitar.
He was a loving husband to his wife, Pam (Bennett) Evans, and a proud father to his daughters, Yvonne Andres (Jeremy) and Billie Basham (Jason). Additionally, Beaver is survived by his grandchildren—Tony Jent (Kenny), Dylan Yates, and Kayla Borton, his great-grandson, Colson Borton, his siblings, David Evans (Tina), Terry Evans (Debi), and Dedra Fain, as well as his sister-in-law, Carol Gullett. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.
Beaver was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Mike Gullett, and his nephews, Hunter Gullett and Ricky Evans.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. Visitation will continue on Friday after 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. His final resting place will be at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, where burial and military honors will be conducted.
