Mark William Drake

Mark William Drake, born on February 14, 1964, passed away on May 2, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and a zest for life that touched who knew him.

Mark was a man of many interests and talents. His mechanical savvy was evident in his love for working on cars and motorcycles, reveling in the intricate details of machines. Mark's hands were not only skilled in mechanics but also in nurturing life; he enjoyed gardening and found great joy in cultivating plants. Throughout his life, he showed unwavering devotion to his many pets, treating each with the love and care they deserved.

One of Mark’s proudest accomplishments was his faithful care for his mother, ensuring her needs were tended to with the utmost respect and love. This commitment to family exemplified the kindness and dedication that defined his character.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rufus William Drake, Jr.; sister, Debra Chambers and his cousin, Shelia Bray.

Mark leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Lois Drake; daughter, Misty Lopez; grandchildren, Austin Connors and Saveah Lopez; siblings, Sonia (Barry) Prather and Michael (Vera) Johnston; special person in his life, Teena Brulewicz; nieces, Jennifer and Kaylyn, who was more like a sister and numerous cousins and friends.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation to be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272, on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at the same location, starting at 6:00 PM.

Mark William Drake will be remembered for his generous spirit and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he enriched.
