Mark Alan Wilson,51, of Louisville, lost his courageous two year battle with cancer on Tuesday, September 22nd, with his loving partner, family, friends, and beloved dog, KC by his side.
Mark served as Executive Chef at the River Valley Club since April of 2010. He and his team provided the membership with a premier culinary program, including the planting of an on-site garden and chicken coop. He was previously employed as the Executive Sous Chef at Jack Fry's Restaurant for two decades, and deserves considerable credit for its national culinary reputation. His creativity, high standards, patient leadership and extraordinary attention to detail secured Jack Fry's place as a favorite Louisville institution. Guests dining at Formally Myra's, Timothy's and Azalea have also enjoyed his phenomenal culinary talents.
His love of animals was exemplified by his adoption and rescue of numerous dogs. Mark was passionate about nature and expressed his outdoor creativity as an avid gardener and landscaper.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Roy "Buck" Wilson.
He is survived by his partner, Barry Shaffer; Mother, Catherine Wilson; siblings, Michael Cole (Ricki) , Rob Wilson (Kelly), Terri (John) Dillree, Kathy Masterson (George); nieces, Natalie Straus, Jessica Dillree, Dana Portman, Deena Hardin, Caitin Masterson; nephews, Damian Cole, Camile Wilson, Ian Duque and four beloved dogs.
The family would like to thank the compassionate and caring staff of Norton Hospital, and particularly the Oncology and 5th Floor Staff. The comfort that Chaplain Katie Anderson extended was of great solace to Mark and the family.
