Marilyn "Joy" (Reed) Koopman, 80, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. She was a long-time and active member at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she enjoyed music and leading the children's choir. Joy was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was born on September 23, 1939, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Carl and Nancy (Rothrock) Reed. Joy was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Koopman; and siblings, Carl, Jr., Betty, Janet, Jerry, and Mary Ellen Reed and Patty Haynes.
Joy is survived by her children, Steve Koopman (Angie), Pam Koopman-Johnson (Greg), Greg Koopman, Paula Giddings (David), Beth Koopman, Everett Koopman (Donna), and Jennifer Eversmann (Jason); sister, Eva Richards (Allen); brother, Harry Reed (Marilyn); sisters-in-law, Mary Jane and Ann Reed; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (8310 St. John's Road, Floyds Knobs) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
