Marilyn Ann Hanish, 80, of Louisville, KY, peacefully joined the Lord after a sudden cancer illness at 10:00am on February 22, 2016.
Born Marilyn Ann McCord in Louisville, KY, from parents Ethel Ritchie and Elmer McCord, she was the only girl of five children. She married Arthur T. Daus, Jr., M.D. on December 31, 1955, had two sons Arthur Steven Daus, M.D. and Kevin Michael Daus, M.D., prior to their divorce. She married Sidney Hanish on January 22, 1968, and remained widowed following Sidney Hanish's death February 13, 2000.
Marilyn received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ursuline College, now Bellarmine University, and her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Louisville. She worked her first career in the Louisville School System as an elementary school teacher and guidance counselor and later, her second career as a paralegal in Louisville.
She was beloved and respected by all family, friends, and acquaintances. She had a happy demeanor and was an astute and warm-hearted listener. All will dearly miss her. She was preceded in death by her second husband Sidney Hanish, her parents Ethel and Elmer McCord, and her three brothers Marion, Elmer, and Robert McCord.
She is survived by her two sons Dr. Arthur S. Daus (Vykki) and Dr. Kevin M. Daus (Jackie) as well as her youngest brother Bernard T. McCord (Marion). She is also survived by two grandchildren, Arthur S. Daus, Jr., and Haley N. Daus, nieces; Lauren McCord, Sharon McCord, Diane Murrell, Carol Socol, Jenny Baldwin, and Sharon Nussbaum, nephews; Jimmy McCord, Michael McCord, Mark McCord, Arnold Hanish, Rabbi Jon Hanish, and Dr. Mark Perelmuter, and a host of great nieces and great nephews. A special thanks to her personal caretaker, Jackie L. Alexander.
Visitation will be at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Dr., Middletown, KY. from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, February 26, 2016.
Mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church located at 7813 Shelbyville Road Louisville, Kentucky 40220 with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
