Marilyn Rose Flint, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, just two days after celebrating her seventy-fifth birthday. Marilyn was born on July 10, 1951, and from her very first days, she shone with a light uniquely her own—a sparkly and bright presence whose piercing blue eyes radiated warmth, kindness, and love to all she knew.
Marilyn graduated from Southern High School in 1969, embarking on her life’s journey filled with heart, generosity, and the affectionate embrace of family and friends. She inherited a deep passion for music that defined her days as the talented singer of her own band, Rose Bud. For Marilyn, music was more than a pastime—it was the very lifeblood of her existence. Whether on stage or singing softly among loved ones, her voice brought joy, solace, and connection wherever she went.
Beyond the stage, Marilyn was a woman of many gifts and gentle passions. She found beauty in the flutter of butterflies and delighted in nurturing her garden, especially the roses and tomatoes she lovingly grew each season. Her creativity bloomed within her home, where she sewed, crocheted, and painted, filling her surroundings with the colors and comforts of her touch. When not tending her garden or crafting something beautiful, Marilyn could be found with her nose in a book, an avid reader of mysteries and romances, immersing herself in imaginative worlds.
Her generosity was as boundless as her love for those around her. Marilyn opened her heart with remarkable ease, loving everyone she knew and always quick to offer support, kindness, or a helping hand. Marilyn volunteered with The Crusade for Children for over 30 years donating her time to a cause she was passionate about. She was an animal lover through and through, most especially devoted to her cherished fur-baby, Shadow, who brought her immeasurable comfort and companionship through the years.
Marilyn's family was her pride and joy—a constellation of relationships marked by deep affection and resilience. She is survived by her sons, Christopher Flint (Tiffany) and Daniel Flint (Kara), who carry her memory forward in all they do. Her grandchildren, Zachary, Amy, and Asher, remember a grandmother whose love created the foundation of treasured family moments. She is also dearly remembered by her niece Daria Taylor, her cousin Mary Merideth who were also her primary caregivers, her beloved dog and companion, Shadow as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is reunited in peace with her loving parents, Wert Slaughter, Jr. and Catherine Slaughter; her husband, Steven Flint; her son, Matthew Flint; and her brothers, Randall Dale Slaughter and Larry Slaughter. Though their absence was felt deeply in her later years, Marilyn continued to honor their memory with courage and grace.
The family invites all who loved Marilyn to join in sharing memories and celebrating her remarkable life during visitation hours on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY. A funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Pennsylvania Run Cemetery, 8405 Pennsylvania Run Road, Louisville, KY.
In the memories, gardens, and songs Marilyn leaves behind, her presence endures—a legacy of love, generosity, and joy that will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Crusade for Children.
