Marie Lucille Young, age 57, of Louisville, Kentucky, was called to her eternal home on Saturday, May 10, 2025, cradled in the love of her beloved son and cherished mother. We pray she entered into the arms of her Savior with peace, surrounded by grace.
Born on December 15, 1967, in Toledo, Ohio, to Mary Elizabeth (Bauni) Stone and the late Robert Lear Stone, Marie was a daughter of faith from the very beginning. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and her dear aunt and godmother, Josephine Bauni.
Marie’s life was a testament to her faith, radiant spirit, and loving heart. With sparkling eyes and a smile that reflected the joy of Christ, she touched the lives of many as a true servant of the Lord. Her vocation was love that she generously bestowed upon family and friends. A devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, her most treasured vocation was that of motherhood. Marie embraced this role with unwavering devotion, and her greatest joy came from nurturing her son, Alexander.
A lifelong resident of Louisville, Marie was educated at St. Pius X Catholic School and Presentation Academy, where she made treasured friendships that lasted a lifetime. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Louisville. She was a faithful and active parishioner at both St. John Paul II Parish (formerly St. Pius X) and Epiphany Catholic Church. As a proclaimer of the Word and a familiar face to many, she lived the Gospel through acts of compassion and humility. Her generosity and love were known and felt by all who encountered her friendship
Marie was a gifted and insightful business owner, offering creative solutions and encouragement to her clients. But her true legacy lies in the countless unseen acts of kindness she openly offered with a servant’s heart. As her health declined, through much suffering she continued to prepare meals for the homeless, provide uplifting gifts to the needy, offer encouragement and support to many. Her life was her ministry, and she lived it faithfully, with a heart anchored in prayer and the hope of Christ and devotion to the Blessed Mother.
Marie’s earthly journey has come to an end, but we pray her soul rejoices in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
Marie is survived by her son, Alexander Scott Young, mother, Mary Elizabeth Stone, brothers, Robert J. Stone (Victoria), Kevin Stone (Megan), nieces and nephews, Anna Stone, Benjamin Stone (Melissa), Simon Stone (Sarah), Nathaniel Stone (Annalise), Elizabeth Stone and great-nieces, Annie and Nora Stone.
