Marie Angela (Dimarco) Howell, 92, of Corydon, formerly of New Albany, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017. She was a member of the First Church of God in New Albany and a truly devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. Marie loved cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, and caring for others. She loved making holidays special for her family by making her famous noodles.
Marie was born on July 17, 1925 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Peter, Sr. and Lena (Tortrich) Dimarco. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Howell; brothers, Tony, Dominick, Ciro, and Lucien Dimarco; and sister, Anne Creel.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Best, Linda Davis (Bill), John Birkla (Nancy), Carolyn Kochert (Lonnie), and Michael Birkla (Shevonne); step-daughter, Sandra E. Smith (Larry); brothers, Joseph and Peter Dimarco, Jr.; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 10 AM – 1 PM Saturday, December 30, 2107 at Newcomer-Southern Indiana Chapel (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). The funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
