Margie Pearl Gambill

August 30, 1925 — April 19, 2020

Margie Gambill, 94, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020.

She was born on August 30, 1925 in Haymond , Kentucky to Millard and Dixie Gambill.

Margie was the fourth of nine children in our family raised in the coal mining town of Haymond, KY. She graduated from nearby Fleming High School where she played the drum in the band. Later, following the death of our father in a coal mining accident, she and her older sister, Ginny, were sent to Louisville, KY to attend Spencerian Business College, then secure jobs, and send money back to our Mom to save to move our family to Louisville. Margie worked at International Harvester, owned and managed a 5-7-9 dress boutique franchise, and finished her working career as a bookkeeper at Goshen Utilities.

There was absolutely no doubt that her unwavering love, support and guidance coupled with simply "hanging out" with family and friends was the main focus of her life. She touched all of us in so many positive ways, and had a special and loving relationship with her three wonderful sisters. She loved her pets, sports, and especially the Kentucky Wildcats. She loved to travel and she also enjoyed playing Canasta at Thanksgiving family gatherings and would occasionally get in a round of golf.

As we now face the difficult time to say good-bye to this very special sister, Aunt and friend, we thank God for her and her longevity, and for all the love, joy and precious memories she brought to our lives.

She will be missed by all who knew her. May She Rest In Peace.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, June Slone and brother, Doug Gambill.

Margie is survived by her brothers and sisters, Ginny King, Ed Gambill, Jackie Hearn, Sam Gambill, Jerry Gambill (Barbara); and countless nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Due to current restrictions services will be private, but the family does plan to hold a public memorial at a later date.
