Margaret Rose "Peggy" Brewer, age 78 of Louisville, went on to the next stage of life and rejoined her husband Charlie on Friday March 30, 2018, while surrounded by her loving family.
Faith and family were the cornerstones of her life. Peggy was born September 2, 1939 to the late Joseph Bertrand Keene and Margaret Alcoque Clements in Washington County, Kentucky. She grew up on the family farm with 5 sisters and 2 brothers, and went to school at Saint Rose in Springfield, Kentucky, followed by high school at the Academy of St. Catharine of Siena. She moved to the big city of Louisville to attend St. Joseph Infirmary School of Nursing and graduated with a 3 year nursing degree on September 8, 1961.
In Louisville she also met Charlie and they married on July 25, 1964 at Our Mother of Sorrows Church on Eastern Parkway. They raised 3 boys who married and had 9 grandchildren. She and Charlie were active members of Louisville Covenant Church (currently known as In Christ Ministries). Her faith and love showed in her care for people of all ages, who she befriended, mentored, fed, housed, ministered to, and discipled.
Peggy says her most important decision was when she chose a personal relationship with Jesus Christ on July 23, 1969. While she had been raised in a good home and attended church regularly, she was searching for meaning in life… looking for the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. She found her purpose in Jesus Christ and his gospel of the kingdom of God on earth. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Charles Joseph Brewer Jr., her sister Deborah Simpson, and brother-in-law David Holderman.
Peggy is survived by sons, Danny (Cathy), Eddie (Kim), Mike (Mary Beth); and grandchildre, Nate, Anna, Nick, Liz, Abbie, Matt, Jon, Michael, Grace; siblings, Judy (Earl) Smith, Billy (Cathy) Keene, Beverly (Dick) Sauer, (Dennis) Simpson, Sandy Holderman, Steve (Linda) Keene, and Lisa (Gregg) Davis; and a host of family and friends.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her recent illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to: In Christ Church, www.inchristchurchandministries.com, or Family Life Resources - non-profit parenting ministry of Joey & Carla Link: www.parentingmadepractical.com.
Visitation will be 3-5pm Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown, followed by a celebration of Margaret's life at 5pm.
