Mardrette Elise Summerville

Mardrette “Margie” Summerville, 64, was born on October 2, 1960, to Andrew and Barbara Threats of Dayton, Ohio. She joined her heavenly Father on August 13, 2025. Margie was devoted to her faith and volunteered in various church ministries, especially with children.

A gifted student, Margie graduated early with the 1978 Class of Jefferson Township High School in Dayton, Ohio, where she was a flag girl in the Bronco marching band. She loved biology and home economics, which foreshadowed her passion for homeschooling her children and maintaining a home for her family. Margie valued each moment spent with her family, whether it was traveling to Disney World, decorating her home for Christmas, or simply enjoying quiet time with friends. She made every moment memorable with her sharp wit and radiant sense of humor.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, DeForest Summerville; her parents, Andrew and Barbara Threats; her grandparents, Ed and Izora Threats, and Leroy and Mattie Roberts; her sister, Jennifer A. Hunter; her brother, Andrew Threats, Jr.; her nephew, Dwayne A. Pope; and her niece, Marquia L. Hunter.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Janus (Audra) Carter of Indianapolis, IN, and Jacob Carter; two daughters, Elisha Carter and Naomi Summerville, all of Louisville, Kentucky; one grandson, Jonathan Weston; three granddaughters, Jordyn Jones, Ysabel Summerville, and Luciana Summerville; three sisters, Regina (James) Burdette, Andrea (Charley) Bush, and Brenda Pope, all of Dayton, Ohio; and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, and on Saturday, August 23, 9:00am to 11:00am, with a service to follow at 11:00am, at Newcomer Cremations Funerals and Receptions, East Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville KY, 40243.
