Marc Christian Mcgovern

Marc Christian McGovern, age 51, passed away on January 6, 2022, in Corydon, Indiana, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born in Covington, Kentucky, on February 28, 1970, he is the son of Charles and Linda McGovern.
He enjoyed the simple things in life with Brenda, his loving girlfriend of 23 years, and their sweet dog, Autumn. He loved cooking, fishing, NASCAR, doing yard work, spending time with family and friends, playing Euchre and Hearts, and listening to music. He called his mom frequently to share with her about his life and to catch up on all the family news. He held a variety of jobs in his life but was particularly interested in auto mechanics, spending hours working on others' cars for the joy of using his skills and being of service. He was known for his kind-heartedness and helping others in need. Like everyone, he had struggles, but he will be remembered for how he always picked himself back up and strived for better. Throughout his life he maintained a strong belief in God.
Marc is survived by his two daughters, Kayla McGovern and Lacey Anderson; grandson, Jax Malatesta; parents, Charles and Linda McGovern; brother, Jason (Sarah) McGovern; sisters, Christy (Christina) McGovern, Meredith (Randee) McGovern-Eimer, and Madonna McGovern; and girlfriend, Brenda McMullan. He also leaves behind uncles, aunts, nephews, a niece, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Vivian Smith, James (Evelyn) Smith, Shirley McGovern, and Charles A. (Leetta) McGovern.
A Memorial Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Memorial Service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Marc's wishes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Harrison County Animal Shelter (3132 Hope Lane NW, Corydon, IN 47112).
