Madeline Joy (Sams) Durbin, 79, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020. Madeline was a member of the Bonnie Sloan American Legion in New Albany and loved playing dice games and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was born on February 1, 1941 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Charles and Viola (Riley) Sams. Along with her parents, Madeline is preceded in death by her siblings, Irene Sams, Gary "Sonny" Sams, Betty Rake, and Shirley Peppler.
Madeline is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, James Durbin; children, Deborah Durbin, Theresa (Matthew) Ace, and Christopher (Samatha Short) Durbin; grandchildren, April Gibson, Joanna Rudolph, and Sean Durbin; great-grandchildren, Kiera Rudolph and Autumn Melton; brother, Melvin "Bud" (Vada) Sams; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, visitation and services will be kept private. Masks must be worn if you have been asked by the family to attend. She will be laid to rest in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lanesville, Indiana.
