Mack Gene Day, 83, of Louisville, KY passed away on June 6, 2018. He retired as a Captain from The Louisville Fire Department and was a member of St. Luke Episcopal Church in Anchorage, KY.
Mack was born on September 24, 1934 in Whitesburg, KY to the late Oscar and Ruby Day. He was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Mary Jane Bentley; sisters, Brenda Holbrook and Meluva Day; and one granddaughter, Cassidy Pearl.
Mack is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce Day; children, Kirk Day, Kelly Pearl (Tony), Ainsley Thompson (Joe); daughter-in-law, Jacki Day; grandchildren, Rebecca Pearl, Taylor Thompson, Veronica Pearl, Sydney Thompson, Savana Day, Olivia Day; great-grandson, Caleb Rankin; a close nephew, Roger Bentley (Diane); as well as a host of nieces and extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243). A service to honor the life of Mack will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke Episcopal Church (1206 Maple Lane, Anchorage, KY 40223) with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY.
In loving memory of Mack, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Kosair Children's Hospital.
