Lyda Marion Barnes

Lyda Marion Barnes, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on September 8, 1936, in Hardin County, Kentucky, Lyda dedicated her life to her family, embodying the values of love, devotion, and commitment.

She was a cherished mother to her children: Kim (Jan) Sluchak, Cindy (Tim) Daugherty, Lisa Cottington, Jean Cox, and Leonard Douglas Cox. Lyda's nurturing spirit and unwavering support left a lasting impact on their lives, as she poured her heart into being the best mother she could be.

Lyda’s is also survived by her sister, Thelma Faye (Tom) Thompson; grandchildren, Leigh Ann (John) Wahl, Lisa (William) Grother, Ben Sluchak, Timie (Justin) Poiles, and Michael Cox; great-grandchildren, Lydia (Ruben), Hannah (Luke), William, Aleah, Alannah, Kylee, Mikayla, and Lexie; as well as great-great-grandchildren, Banks and Hattie.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Leonard Klinglesmith and Frances Goodman Klinglesmith; her husband, Alvin Barnes; and her siblings, Elma Jean, Horace Lee Klinglesmith, Loretta Smothers, Lillian Tucker, and Marshall Klinglesmith.

A private family visitation will be held and she will be entombed at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
