Luther Gerald "Luke" Wyrick, 84, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Tuesday morning, August 25, 2015. He was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from Floyd Memorial Hospital after 25 years in administration. Luke was an avid reader and had a dry sense of humor. He had a real knack for selecting the best birthday cards.
He was born on September 18, 1930 in Corbin, Kentucky to the late Thurman and Virginia (Noe) Wyrick. Luke was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Alta "Claudine" (Perkins) Wyrick; half-brothers, Raymond, Glenn, Harold, Terry Wyrick; half-sister, Kathleen Jarboe; parents-in-law, Luther and Alene Perkins; and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Perkins and Lynnette White.
Luke is survived by his brother-in-law, Carl Perkins; nieces and nephews, Karen Megraw (Keith), Karla Perkins, Albert Perkins (Louise), David White; great-nieces and nephews, Kyle Megraw (Adair), Kela Megraw, Kody Megraw, Olivia Perkins, Keaton Roggenkamp, Audrey Perkins; great-great niece, and nephew, Shyanne and Kam.
Visitation will be from 4 PM to 8 PM Friday, August 28, 2015, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home with entombment and military honors to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
