It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ludeema "Ludie" Nell (Penrod) Williams, 75, of Louisville, Kentucky. Ludie passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022.
Ludie was born on August 4, 1946, in Beech Creek, Kentucky to the late Henry and Opal (Woodruff) Penrod. She is preceded in death by her son Mark Williams and sisters Betty (Penrod) Lydon and June (Penrod) Taylor.
When Ludie was a young girl she moved to Oak Park IL with her family, graduating from River Forest/Oak Park High School. She felt blessed to grow up in a large family with six siblings, five sisters and a brother. At nineteen she married and started her own family and had two children.
Life for Ludie was not always easy, but from a young age she found comfort in her church and it, along with her faith, remained the bedrock and anchor for the entirety of her life. She spoke often of her experiences with the Lord and sought to be of service to her church in many capacities, including working as part of the kitchen, cleaning, laundry, and silverware staffs. She was especially proud of her time as a Sunday School teacher with the Oswego, IL Gospel Assembly Youth Group before moving to Louisville.
Ludie always sought to instill her faith in her children from an early age and always sought to do the same for her "adoptive" children in the Oswego and Louisville churches whenever possible by offering prayer, comfort, and spiritual guidance. She left an indelible mark on all those whose spiritual paths she crossed in these churches. Ludie will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Ludie is survived by her loving daughter, Chris Ann Williams Konrad (Tony), granddaughter Rebecca Konrad, four siblings Patricia (Penrod) Hazelip (Jack, deceased), Nancy (Penrod) Schofield (Ron), Jackie Penrod (Geraldine, deceased) and Wanda (Penrod) Yarbrough (Tim, deceased). She is also survived by her uncle David Penrod (Riva), cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and a host of friends and extended church family across the nation. Ludie was especially proud of her family and friends who served in the military and held them in high regard and prayer especially those in active service.
Per Ludie's wishes, family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on May 14, 2022 - 11:00 a.m. at Christian Assembly Church 9020 Stonestreet Road Louisville, KY 40272.
In lieu of floral arrangements, the family asks that contributions in Ludie's memory be made to HolyLandTree.com and plant an olive tree in Israel as part of a memorial orchard in her honor.
Job 19:25-27 "For I know that my redeemer lives, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another. . . ."
