She came into this world beautiful, strong willed, and witty and remained so all of her life. In the end her ultimate desire; to be free of her earthly burdens and join her beloved youngest daughter Nina in heaven.
Lucy Lee Schultze was born in Louisville, Kentucky on January 18, 1945 to Lucy Minor Schultze and Stanley Edward Schultze. She grew up playing mischievous games and enjoying endless adventures with her two siblings, Stanley and Eleanor.
As an adult Lucy's keen eye for decorating, style, and art, including her drive to be her own boss, lead her into the gallery business for twenty plus years. Her galleries were a reflection of her personality; colorful, creative, and bold.
In the mid 70's she married Davis Marret, whom she remained close friends with until her heavenly departure.
Lucy and Davis had two daughters; Varina Davis and Liza Gray. As a mother Lucy raised her daughters to be as independent, funny, and fun as she was.
After retiring from the gallery business, Lucy joined St. Francis High School. At the front desk, Lucy greeted students daily as they would often stop by to talk with her. As a well liked addition to the school, Lucy devoloped many relationships with parents and students alike.
Lucy's next chapter in life brought the birth of her three grandchildren; Harlan, Murdoch, and Guthrie. Three feisty vivacious young boys were no match for "Nona". She loved every minute of their time together. She was an interictal part of their lives, and her love for them was very much reciprocated.
Lucy or "Nona" will be missed by all of her friends and acquaintances and will be loved forever by her family.
Her burial will take place next to her daughter Nina at Cavehill Cemetery April 17th at 2pm for friends and family. Please enter the Grinstead Entrance.
A celebration of her life will take place for friends and family following her burial from 4-7pm. Please contact Lucy's family for information.
