LOPIANO, Lucille B., 98, a lifelong resident of Louisville, KY, went to be with her Heavenly Father, December 19, 2014.
Lucille was the daughter of Adolph Meyer and Margaret Louise Lillian Mary Meriwether Meyer, and granddaughter of Sebastian and Mary Koechel Meriwether.
Lucille married Joseph Lopiano on May 10, 1958 and moved with him to Connecticut. When he passed eight years later, she returned to Louisville where she had worked for the Baltus car dealership at 28th & Broadway for many years. By then it was Universal Chevrolet and she resumed work there. She remained there with Bob Smith Chevrolet until 1979 when she moved to West Palm Beach, FL with her close friend, Gordon E. Hamilton, where he established a senior citizen care home. They, along with another of her dear friends from Louisville, Art Lepperd, operated Century Care Home for eight years. She returned home to Louisville in early 1988.
She was a devout Catholic all her life and attended St. Helen's Catholic Church until she took an apartment at Little Sisters where she lived for some twelve years. When she became ill and hospitalized, Little Sisters would not allow her return to her apartment and she spent the remainder of her life at Meadowview Nursing Home where she received excellent care.
Lucille was predeceased by two brothers, Earl and Louis, and her sister, Thelma. She leaves behind, six nieces and two nephews, along with her son, Larry P. Lopiano and her devoted step-son, Richard Lopiano and his wife, Cathy, of Cape Coral, Florida.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on December 23, 2014 with the service to follow at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive, Middletown. Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery.
