Lt Col Jack L Duncan, USA, Ret US Army Retired, 88, entered the Kingdom of Heaven Aug 7, 2020
Jack was born in Evansville, Indiana to the late Arnold and Josephine Duncan on Dec 1, 1931.He married the love of his life Shirley Carnahan in July 1953 and most recently celebrated 67 years of marriage.
He was a 3 sport athlete in high school to include baseball, basketball and track. After graduating HS he attended Evansville College and worked as Junior Stress Engineer at Servel, Inc. before being drafted into the Army in 1953. Jack earned his BS in Civil Engineering at The University of Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, Missouri - Class of 62. During his career in the Army he earned his Master Aviator wings flying Hueys in Vietnam and various fixed wing aircraft while mapping Central and South America. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal, Guatemalan Gold Medal, Vietnam and Korean Campaign Medals among others.
Jack enjoyed bowling, golf, karaoke and dancing with his wife. He was a devoted husband, loved his family, and friend to many.
Survivors include his wife Shirley, Children; Teressa Duffee (Mark), Cary Duncan (Sharon), Debra Coover (Rick), Michael Duncan & Larry Burkhead and Kevin Duncan, grandchildren , Andrew Duffee, Christina Sparks, Nicholas Duffee, Wesley Thieneman, Mathew Thieneman, Todd Thieneman, Holly Coover, Rick Krauth, Amanda Brinson, great grandchildren, Abigail, Emory, Julia, Brett, Penny, Madison, Landon, Astra, Aliza, Jackson, Carson, Lacey, Lucas, Autumn, Joshua, Devin, Dylan, Cameron, Ellie, Madelynn, Donnie, Katie, and great great grandchild, Kendall, brother in law James Carnahan (Sue) and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Monday, August 17, 2020 at Newcomer Funeral home, 10304 Dixie Highway. Funeral services will be at noon at Newcomer followed by full military Honors at Kentucky Veterans Military Cemetery in Radcliff Kentucky at 2 p.m.
