Lt. Col Edward Neill Plymale

Edward Neill Plymale, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

He was born on March 2, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Dr. Francis and Grace (Claycomb) Plymale. He is also preceded in death by his brother Bruce Plymale.

Neill was a beloved member of his community and church. He served in the United States Army for 32 years, retiring in 2002 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He thoroughly enjoyed his time in the military and was proud to be a soldier for the US Army. After retiring, he loved travelling with wife by his side, visiting both coasts of the US. He also found joy in shooting firearms, eating biscuits and gravy, and caring for his pets.

Neill is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Sue Carol (Joiner) Plymale, children, William Edward (Nancy) Plymale, Cynthia Ward, step-children, Vonda, Sondria (Jeff), Deuce (Andrea), Dave (Candice), nephews, Sam (Monica), Keith (Sara), and John (Kim). He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends and his dog, Riley.

Per Neill's wishes cremation was chosen and a celebration of life will be held at a later date at Hikes Point Christian Church (2601 Hikes Lane, Louisville, KY 40218).
