Louise Vanderespt

May 20, 1927 — February 26, 2021

Martha Louise "Weezie" VanderEspt of Louisville Kentucky born May 20, 1927 fulfilled her final wish and went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2021.

She was raised in Possum Ridge, Kentucky. She was a hairdresser for many years continuing to cut hair for the home-bound long after she sold her shop and "retired." She married Elmer on the 4th of July 1947. Together they built their home, literally, and raised 2 sons Dwayne and David. She was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church.

She was a force of nature. In her 70's we all laughed the day her 30 something granddaughter said something "smart" so Weezie chased her halfway around the pond, dove, tackled her, and popped up laughing. We were in awe of her strength. When the wood splitter broke, she picked up a maul and an axe and split the wood by hand … in her 80's!! She never complained about ANYTHING. She could usually fix it with coal oil, but if she couldn't, she'd accept it and remain positive - always. She was a rock for her family caring for her parents in their final years and acting as the heart of her entire extended family as she grew older.

Her home was always full of love (and biscuits and gravy, pie or cake, all things fried …) you would never go hungry and you better come dressed for summer heat - especially in winter! She loved being busy - planting flowers, collecting treasures from auctions and yard sales and working harder than the rest of us could keep up with! When asked two days before her passing what one thing she wanted, she answered "to go to Heaven." I believe she is there now, her body restored, in peace and joy with Jesus, surrounded by those who preceded her in death - her parents Edith and Louis Richardson, her brother Gene, her husband Elmer, her son Dwayne and many other family and friends.

She is survived by her son David (Patty), her daughter-in-law Laurie, 6 grandchildren Stephanie Lynn (Mac), Jeff (Sarah), Scott (Natalie), Zack (Sheena), Katie and Lauren and 7 great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Nicholas, Blakely, Brandt, Wheylin, Silas and Ellie. She also leaves behind a large extended family and many friends.
