Louis "Lou" A. Kenny, 61, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on April 1, 2022. Lou was born in Portsmouth, Ohio to Michael & Mary Kenny on September 20, 1960, and was raised alongside 4 siblings. He went on to graduate from Trinity High School, Class of 1978. He graduated from the Louisville Division of Police Training Academy in 1987. During his time as an officer, Lou held many roles, including working as a Field Training Officer and working on the Bomb Squad. Lou served as an officer for 24 years and retired from the Louisville Metro Police Department in 2011.
In his free time, Lou loved to spend time with his dogs, ride his bike through the park, and enjoy time with his family. One of his favorite places to be was at the dining table with loved ones during Saturday dinners. Lou had a special way of lifting people's spirits and he always loved to make everyone smile and laugh.
Lou is preceded in death by his parents, Michael & Mary Kenny; his brother, Michael Kenny, and his brother-in-law, Paul Gentner. Lou leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving daughter, Shannon Kenny (Joseph) Gelyon; his siblings, Mary Pat Gentner, Patty Kenny, Dr. John Terrance (Mary Ann) Kenny, and Joan (Bill) Meany, as well as nieces & nephews, & other family members who all will miss him very much.
The family has entrusted Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville) with his care. There will be a Celebration of Life for close family & friends held in his honor on a later date.
The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the staff of Norton Hospital Downtown for the care that was given.
