Lorre D. Coates, age 61, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Lorre was a devoted mother, cherished mimi, loving sister, and dear friend. Her adventurous spirit often led her to exploring creeks and embracing the beauty of the outdoors. Lorre’s love for animals was boundless and was affectionally known as a "crazy chicken lady," She had a green thumb and found great joy and peace in planting flowers and tending to her garden. Above all, she adored her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them.
For many years, Lorre dedicated her life to nursing, offering kindness and comfort to those in need with a welcoming heart and an easy smile. In her free time, she delighted in playing board games with her family and shopping in Lowe’s and Home Depot’s gardening centers, where she cultivated her passion for the outdoors.
Lorre courageously battled multiple cancers for seven years, never allowing her illness to define her vibrant life. Her strength and resilience inspired all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate to have shared in her warmth and love.
Born on March 12, 1965, in Louisville, Kentucky, to William and Judith (Kemp) Dover, Lorre was preceded in death by her parents.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Keri (Codie) Johnston and Kelsey (Brandon) Robinson; her son, Wesley (Michelle) Coates; her grandchildren, Colton, Kassidee, Melanie, Kinnadee, Kinnzlee, Codie Jr., and Callie; her brother, Bryan (Karen) Dover; her former spouse, Arnold Coates; as well as countless fur babies, friends, and family who will forever cherish her memory.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance at a visitation on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.
