Loretta Fedler Sauer, age 99 of Louisville, returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Born to the late J.C. and Lula Best Fedler, she grew up in the Highlands neighborhood in Louisville. She graduated from Presentation Academy, went to Business College and trained to be a public stenographer. She started her career at the Seelbach and worked for Eastern Airlines. She retired from Pitney-Bowes after many years of service.
Loretta's legacy is her enduring grace, strength and sweetness. She raised her family to be independent and strong; "where there is a will there is a way" and there was no time or place for whining. She advocated "Just Do It" long before it was a slogan.
Loretta was a devout Catholic, much loved, wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her later years she was a member of classic worship bible study at Southeast Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Sauer; her siblings, J.C., III, Hubert, Sr. Mary Fedler, SCN and Carolyn Gleason.
Loretta is survived by her loving children; sons, Albert Sauer, Jr. (Beverly), Dick Sauer (Beverly), John Sauer (Lisa) and daughter Marty Coker (Lamont). Grandchildren, Chris Sauer (Andre), Brittany Snyder (Lt. Commander Alan Snyder, USN), Shannon Steltenpohl (Tom), Jeremy Coker (Sarah), Ryan Coker (Dianna), Mid-shipman Andrew Sauer, USNA and Grant Sauer; great-grandchildren, Faith and Carson Snyder, Lucy, Rory, Ellison and Josie Coker; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 2-6pm Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive. A celebration of Loretta's life will be 10:00 am AM, Monday, February 22nd, at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Loretta never missed a party and loved watching Louisville Cardinals basketball. We can still hear her say, "its five o'clock, time for my bourbon and water".
