Loraine Catherine(Blessinger)Schmitt, 92, of New Albany, Indiana, was called home on Tuesday , April 7, 2015. She was born on July 5, 1922 in Huntingburg, Indiana to Fedelis and Augustia Blessinger. Loraine was a member of The Bridge Community Church in Clarksville, Indiana. She enjoyed being outdoors and working in her rose garden.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Earl Schmitt. Loraine is survived by her children, Robert "Bob" Schmitt (Virginia), Janet McGuffin(David), Peggy Fortune (Ron); 7 grandchildren;Robin Schmitt Keown, Teresa Gayle Hardman(Ken),James Schmitt(Angela),David Scott McGuffin(Bethany), John Fortune(Tammy), Lori Wacker(Chris), Mary Fisher(Shane), and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11AM to 1 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a memorial service to follow at 1PM.
