Lisha Michelle Howard

June 2, 1963 — April 17, 2022

Life is a journey that we all must take, and each of us must go alone. It is all apart of God's plan, a step on the road home. Lisha Michelle Howard departed this life, at the age of 58, and began her journey home on April 17, 2022.

Lisha was born on June 2nd, 1963 in Bronx, New York to Sam and Elaine (Lacey) Howard. She is preceded in death by her mother Elaine Howard and brother Darryl Howard.

Lisha accepted Christ at an early age. She continued to be active in church throughout her life. Over the years she had many responsibilities in the church, such as Armor Bearer for her mother's ministry, usher and greeter. The power of worship in sign language was one of her many gifts that she taught to so many.

Education was important to Lisha as she earned her Bachelors of Science Management from Indiana Wesleyan University and her Associates of Paralegal Studies from Sullivan University. Most of her career was spent helping others in customer service and collections where she had the opportunity to help and minister to others by reconciling their problems. After 20 years of faithful service, she retired from the Kentucky Higher Education Student Loan Corporation.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Lisha. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Her door was always open with a lending hand as she helped those in need. She acted as a surrogate mother to many. One of her favorite things to do was spend time with, Bexley "Sugars", her only grandchild.

Lisha had many interests and hobbies, some of which include collecting over 200 pieces of angelic art, the thrill from fishing, and listening to all kinds of music, especially Prince. She was also a lover of sports, football being her favorite. She became athletically active at an early age where she played varsity basketball and softball. Her sons, William and Mikal, also took on her passion for sports as she was their biggest fan, often attending both practices and games. Her favorite teams include: anywhere her sons played, the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Louisville Cardinals.

A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Lisha is survived by her father, Sam Howard Jr.; sons, William Ellington Jr. and Mikal Howard (Brianna); granddaughter, Bexley Howard; brother, Ken Howard (Dee); nieces, Heather Howard (Healani), Logan Howard, Kennedy Howard, Madison Howard and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 2pm until the time of the funeral service at 4pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
